Grace of God Ministries is thrilled to announce an upcoming event celebrating 62 years of Jamaica's independence with a special Independent Celebration and Thanksgiving Service. This momentous occasion will be held under the inspiring theme, "Winning the Nations for Christ,” and in the divine presence of Pastor Mrs.Dr. Rosalind Philips and Apostle Akintunde Philips. Join us as we come together to honor Jamaica's rich history and cultural heritage on August 4th, 2024, at the Church Auditorium, Grace of God Ministry International, 3950 48th Street, Bladensburg, MD, 20710. The event will feature dynamic worship, uplifting music, and powerful messages of hope and unity. All are welcome to participate in this joyous celebration, which will bring together community members, leaders, and believers from all walks of life.

Located in the West Indies and the Caribbean Sea, Jamaica is an island nation. The island was known by its native Taíno people as Xaymaca, which translates to "Land of Wood and Water" or "Land of Springs" in their language. After Christopher Columbus arrived on the island in 1494, the native Taíno peoples eventually came under Spanish domination. Following the deaths of a great number of the indigenous inhabitants, the Spanish imported a considerable number of Africans to Jamaica as slaves. On August 6, 1962, Jamaica gained independence from the United Kingdom. Despite its small size, the nation has a huge worldwide impact; it is known for its contributions to reggae music, cricket, sprinting, and athletics. It is also the birthplace of the Rastafari cult. At times, Jamaica has been regarded as the least populous cultural superpower globally.
